Blogmas Day 10: 30 By 30

In the past, I’ve been the type of person to have every step of my life planned out, especially when I was just starting college. Over the past five years, there were several occasions where I had to learn the hard way that you can’t always plan your life out step by step, and because of those moments, I’ve learned to accept things as they come, and not be so caught up with reaching huge milestones, or pressuring myself to reach a certain accomplishment by a certain time. But occasionally I still catch myself making mental lists of things I want to do, or goals I want to accomplish at some point in my life. Although I’m not a huge believer in bucket lists, it’s still fun to fantasize about things I think would be cool to accomplish during my life, especially in my twenties. I’ve compiled my own “30 by 30” list, and while I am okay with not accomplishing a lot of these things, it’s still cool to have something tangible that I can look back on and either realize the amazing things I’ve done, or laugh at how ridiculously ambitious I was. In any case, here are 30 things I’d like to do before I turn 30.

Blogmas Day 9: How I Introvert

If you frequent this blog every now and again, the fact that I am introverted is not new information (in fact, I’ve written a post detailing everything that goes on inside my head when I’m put in a social situation). I realized that I never wrote a post about things that I indulge in to feed my inner introvert, even though I’ve been meaning to for quite some time now. Hopefully some of these things resonate with my fellow introverts, or introvert-adjacent folk, out there.

Blogmas Day 7: Catholic School Misconceptions

For those who don’t know, which is probably most people reading this, I went to Catholic school for about ten years of my life – from Kindergarten all the way through 9th grade. Whenever I do happen to mention this to people, which isn’t really that often to be completely honest, I usually get a similar reaction to when I tell people I’m a math major – utter shock and subtle concern. This is probably because the mere mention of Catholic or private schools in general triggers a stream of preconceived notions that aren’t necessarily true. So I, as a product of the Catholic school system, am here to hopefully provide some insight into the world of Catholic education.

Blogmas Day 6: Things To Watch On Netflix During Your Time Off (part 2)

I wrote the first part of this post about a year ago, and in that post, I talked about shows that I happened to stumble upon that weren’t necessarily new or trending. This time, I figured I would write more about Netflix Originals since so many have been released in the past year. Other than Fuller House and the Gilmore Girls revival, both of which I’ve already written about in two separate posts, here are some shows on Netflix you should watch when you have some time off.

Blogmas Day 5: Fall Quarter in Review

Sitting in a cafe across the street from campus, I went back and read previous “Fall Quarter In Review” posts with the intention of looking for a way to start this year’s fall retrospective post. But as I went through the previous posts, I ended up looking less at how to begin this post, and more at the growth I’ve experienced over the past two years. Looking back, there was a lot of hurt, but with that hurt came a lot of strength – strength founded on my faith – and it is that strength that has been getting me through the toughest of situations. This past Fall quarter wasn’t necessarily as stressful as it was hectic, but a lot of growing took place nonetheless.

Blogmas Day 4: White Elephant Gift Ideas

It’s finally December, which means holiday parties are being thrown left and right, whether it’s a company party, a hang with friends after finals, or a get-together with extended family. This probably also means that for at least one of those parties, either a Secret Santa or White Elephant gift exchange is being organized. In my own experience, Secret Santa gifts are easier to shop for because 1. some sort of wish list was passed around, 2. I knew the person well enough to know what to get them, or 3. I just asked people for ideas. White Elephant gift exchanges tend to be a little more involved, and require some level of strategy – that is, if you want to do it right. The good thing about White Elephant is that although the spectrum of gifts is vast and wide, the spending limit tends to narrow down the variety of gifts you could buy. Here are a few ideas of what to get for your next White Elephant gift exchange with your friends, family, or colleagues.

Blogmas Day 2: Christmas Jams

As we enter the last quarter of every year, the urge to listen to Christmas music becomes stronger and stronger. How early is too early to start listening to Christmas music? Is it appropriate to start before Thanksgiving? What is the earliest on Thanksgiving Day that we can start having All I Want For Christmas Is You on repeat? Did Michael Buble do a better job singing that song than Mariah Carey? These are all the questions we need to ask ourselves every year as the Holiday season grows near. But these questions are up to you to answer for yourself, and I am not here to make those decisions for you. But when you do finally decide your stance on the timing of listening to Christmas Music (and who did the better rendition of which song), I’ve put together some of my favorite songs that surely gets me into the holiday spirit.

Blogmas Day 1: November Favorites

I would like to first apologize for leaving this on the back burner for the past month. School, work, and extra-curricular activities have been taking over every minute of my life, and by the time I checked everything off of my to-do list, I was either too exhausted to sit down and type up a post, or more things just kept getting added to it. In fact, I’m trying to discretely type this up at work in between tasks, in case you wanted to gauge how immensely busy I’ve been. But now that the quarter is winding down and my schedule is freeing up as winter break approaches, I’d like to make up for lost time by writing a blog post everyday until Christmas (hence the name, Blogmas). Here is the first post, featuring some of my favorite things from the past month!
