On the heels of my last blog post where I gave my top 5 films released in cinema this year, I figured I’d follow that up with some recommendations from the online streaming world. This is now the fourth year that I’m dedicating an entire blog post to Netflix programming, and as long as they keep pushing out quality content, I’m more than happy to offer my personal favorites from the year. Without any further ado, here are some of my personal favorite Netflix releases from this past year for the next time you have some time off to binge some quality content.

Blogmas Day 21: Things To Watch On Netflix During Your Time Off (Part 3)
Over the past two years, I compiled a list of shows and movies I came across that I feel are binge-worthy, and being that today was my last day of work for the calendar year, now is the perfect time to continue that series. Netflix continues to slay the television game with its original TV shows, films, and specials. This year marked another great year in television for Netflix, releasing much-anticipated series, and premiering new seasons of their already-smash-hit TV shows. Here are five of my favorite Netflix original series from 2017.
Blogmas Day 6: Things To Watch On Netflix During Your Time Off (part 2)
I wrote the first part of this post about a year ago, and in that post, I talked about shows that I happened to stumble upon that weren’t necessarily new or trending. This time, I figured I would write more about Netflix Originals since so many have been released in the past year. Other than Fuller House and the Gilmore Girls revival, both of which I’ve already written about in two separate posts, here are some shows on Netflix you should watch when you have some time off.
Blogmas Day 1: November Favorites
I would like to first apologize for leaving this on the back burner for the past month. School, work, and extra-curricular activities have been taking over every minute of my life, and by the time I checked everything off of my to-do list, I was either too exhausted to sit down and type up a post, or more things just kept getting added to it. In fact, I’m trying to discretely type this up at work in between tasks, in case you wanted to gauge how immensely busy I’ve been. But now that the quarter is winding down and my schedule is freeing up as winter break approaches, I’d like to make up for lost time by writing a blog post everyday until Christmas (hence the name, Blogmas). Here is the first post, featuring some of my favorite things from the past month!
Thoughts On ‘Fuller House’
It has been four days since Fuller House premiered on Netflix, and three days since I began (and finished) streaming the entire first season. Since the official announcement was made almost a full year ago that a Full House spin-off would be in development, fans across multiple generations – myself included – intensely anticipated more news regarding the new upcoming series. Since the show premiered last Friday, mixed reviews circulated the internet, some criticizing the “recycled storylines,” others praising the self-awareness of the show. Having been a fan of the original series since I was a child, and finished watching the available season of the reboot, I’ve had some time to really put some thought into my opinion on Fuller House, and where I think the series should go from here.
5 Things To Watch On Netflix During Your Time Off
While we are in the midst of the chaos of everyday life, we long for the sweet reprieve we get when the weekend comes. But two days following the work week is hardly enough to fully regain stamina to endure another full week of responsibilities, so we yearn for that long awaited vacation time. We begin planning each day of our time off, making a mental to do list of activities starting the minute we wake up on the first day of vacation – going on walks to the park, perhaps taking a trip to the gym, (finally) reading that book your friend recommended, starting to fill in the pages of that adult coloring book you bought last month, et cetera.
But for some reason, we never make it past the comfort of our bed with our computer within arm’s reach, leaving our bedroom sanctuary only for food and bathroom breaks. Since you are already scrolling through your social media feeds, Hulu queue, and Netflix library, let me regale you with a few of my favorites on Netflix that are definitely worth binge watching on your time off.
“Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt” – Another Netflix Phenomenon
In 2013, news broke out of a new NBC comedy, then titled Tooken, that was to star Ellie Kemper as upbeat former cult victim, Kimmy Schmidt. Created, produced, and written by Tina Fey and Robert Carlock, the series would revolve around Kimmy Schmidt as she navigates her way through life in New York City after being held captive by a doomsday cult in Indiana for over half of her life. Originally slated to premiere on NBC, Netflix bought the series, which would then follow in the footsteps of other successful Netflix original series such as House of Cards and Orange Is The New Black.
